Operation Record, Gold Coast District

Police have charged two men as part of ‘Operation Record’; a six-month effort targeting serious drug offences within the northern Gold Coast.

As part of the operation, detectives from the Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Branch executed search warrants at two properties today.

Around 9.30am, officers executed a search warrant at an address on Yarrayne Road, Nerang, where they allegedly located approximately $264,000 in cash, 14.5 kilograms of cannabis, two BB guns and fireworks.

A 30-year-old Nerang man was arrested at the scene and has now been charged with one count each of; trafficking dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs, possessing property obtained from trafficking or supplying, possessing anything used in the commission of a crime, possessing weapons and possessing explosives (fireworks).

He is scheduled to appear at the Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday, November 20.

Around 12.15pm, officers executed a search warrant at an address on Bourton Road, Merrimac, where they allegedly located an operational hydroponic laboratory containing approximately 90 cannabis plants and a further 1 kilogram of cannabis.

A 31-year-old Merrimac man was arrested at the scene and has now been charged with one count each of; producing dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs, possessing anything used in the commission of a crime and possessing utensils.

He is scheduled to appear at the Southport Magistrates Court on Monday, November 25.
