Orange placed on international wine map once again

Orange New South Wales will have its name on the world stage, as it prepares to host ten international wine bloggers from the United States. Each delegate has built a career from digging deeper into the wine industry, exploring what is on trend in terms of wine variety and style and broadcasting that on social media, to tens of thousands of followers and subscribers.

Each delegate has attended the annual Wine Media Conference being held in the Hunter Valley, being the first time the conference has been held outside North America. Close to two hundred media and industry members are expected to attend, most being writers from the United States.

Local River Spirit dancers welcome international media delegates at Angullong Cellar Door.

Following the event, ten attendees will then travel to Orange for a post-conference excursion beginning on Monday 14th October. The delegates will see first-hand what a regional location such as Orange has on offer and why it is fast becoming known as one of Australia’s best wine districts.

Attendees fly from the Hunter Valley to Orange to enjoy a three day excursion full of visits and tours to some of the most highly regarded gourmet restaurants and cafes, cellar doors in Orange and surrounding villages, and participate in a number of vine to table dinners and long lunches.

Orange Mayor Cr Reg Kidd said “This is what Orange is all about. We have such a rich wine culture here, and it is our duty to show it off. I welcome all of the delegates to our beautiful city, and hope that an experience like this might encourage more to visit once word gets around.”

The excursion is jointing organised by the Orange Regional Vignerons Association and Orange 360. General Manager of Orange 360 Caddie Marshall said “This is our chance to demonstrate why Orange is one of the country’s best cool climate wine regions. These bloggers have travelled a long way to be here, and we want to provide as many instaworthy experiences as possible.”

Nicole Samodol, President of the Orange Regional Vignerons Association said “We have been working closely with Orange 360 to make sure we had the opportunity to bring these delegates to Orange and its surrounding villages for a long time now. These people have a huge influence on the wine travel industry from a publicity point of view, and this is the perfect chance for them to help us make others aware of what quality we produce right here in a regional location.”

The delegates will visit wineries and restaurants such as Rowlee Wines, Angullong Wines Cellar Door, Philip Shaw Winery, Ross Hill and many more, all while also taking the time to visit some of the smaller villages such as Milthorpe while they are here.
