Police Arrest Five Teens In Overnight Crimes

Police have arrested five youths following an overnight crime spree in a stolen car.

Just after 4.30am police were called to a business on Wanderah Road after reports a motorcycle shop was broken into. The window was smashed to gain entry and three suspects were seen loading up motorbikes into a white dual cab ute.

A white Ford Ranger ute had been reported stolen earlier from a house break-in at Port Augusta about 1.15am this morning.

This vehicle was also involved in a fuel drive off at a service station in Port Augusta just after 6am.

Port Augusta patrols searched the area for the stolen ute but were unable to locate the vehicle. However, police apprehended two youths who were seen running off in the vicinity of the search area.

One of the youths, a 13-year-old boy from Port Augusta West, was identified as being involved in the Port Pirie break-in and was subsequently charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass and theft. A 14-year-old boy from Port Augusta West was arrested and charged with hindering police.

Just after 8am, police received calls from members of the public reporting a white Ford Ranger speeding south along Port Wakefield Highway at Windsor.

Northern District patrols picked up the vehicle approaching Waterloo Corner Road and followed it as it continued south. The vehicle went into back streets briefly but its tyres were spiked as it came out on to Port Wakefield Road again.

The vehicle continued driving until it was abandoned on Bridge Road near Research Road and three occupants ran off. One suspect was quickly arrested at the scene and cordons were set up in the area to locate the outstanding pair.

Dog Operations assisted with the search and PD Edge located the second suspect on Bridge Road and the third nearby by patrols.

The three teenage boys from Port Augusta, two aged 13 and one aged 14, were arrested and are being interviewed by police.

Investigations in to the incidents are continuing.
