Police are investigating a serious crash where four youths riding a trail bike were injured in Herdsmans Cove last night.
Police and emergency services were called to the scene involving a trail bike with one rider and three pillion passengers and a motor vehicle on Lamprill Circle, Herdsmans Cove, about 5.30pm.
A 13 year old male youth – a pillion passenger- was transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital ICU in a serious condition.
The rider of the trail bike – a 17 year old male youth – and two other pillion passengers – two 14 year old male youths – received non life threatening injuries and were transported to the RHH for medical attention.
The 53 year old female driver of the vehicle was not physically injured.
Police are investigating the crash, with Crash Investigation and Forensic Services attending the scene.
Initial investigations indicate that the driver of the vehicle was making a right hand turn from Lamprill Circle into Dilkara Place when the crash occurred. Initial investigations also indicate that the youths were not wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
“This is a distressing incident and police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash or have dashcam footage of the crash to contact police on 131444,” Acting Inspector Dee Rowe said.
“This was an extremely confronting scene for the emergency service workers who attended, and wellbeing support is being provided.”
