The driver of a hatchback has been charged after allegedly hitting a pedestrian in Sydney’s south-west this morning.
Police were called to the Hume Highway near Highland Avenue, Yagoona, about 4am (Monday 12 April 2021), and found a 57-year-old man with head injuries.
The man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Liverpool Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
The driver of the Toyota Yaris, a 56-year-old man, was taken to Bankstown Hospital for mandatory testing.
Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command established a crime scene, with inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash undertaken by the Crash Investigation Unit.
Following inquiries, the man was arrested at Fairfield Police Station about 12.30pm today.
He was charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous body harm-drive manner dangerous, negligent driving occasioning grievous body harm, and not stop line at red light.
The Cabramatta man was granted conditional bail and is expected to appear in Bankstown local Court on Thursday 29 April 2021.
