A man has been charged over an alleged aggravated break and enter at a home in the state’s Riverina earlier this year.
Between 5pm on Monday 3 October 2022 and 7am on Tuesday 4 October 2022, a granny flat at a rural property on Scott Street, Moorong, near Wagga Wagga, was allegedly broken into, with a vehicle, three firearms and around $60,000 worth of jewellery stolen.
Officers attached to Riverina Police District were notified and established a crime scene, which was forensically examined, and an investigation commenced.
The vehicle – a 2000 model silver Toyota Camry sedan – was recovered near the intersection of Edward and Pearson Streets, Wagga Wagga, about 8.30am the same day.
Following inquiries, a .22 calibre bolt action rifle was located on Travers Street, Wagga Wagga, on Thursday 7 October 2022.
Following further inquiries, including a public appeal for information, investigators attended a correctional facility in Silverwater, about 10.45am today (Tuesday 13 December 2022), where they arrested a 30-year-old man.
He was charged with three counts of steal firearm or imitation firearm, two counts of drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, and one count of aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence – people there – serious indictable offence.
He was refused bail to appear in Wagga Wagga Local Court tomorrow (Wednesday 14 December 2022).
