Police charge man over arson in car park, South Australia

A man will face court today charged with arson after a car fire at Elizabeth yesterday.

It will be alleged the man set fire to a car in the car park of Elizabeth Shopping Centre about 11.50am on Monday 3 August.

There was no one in the parked yellow Ford Falcon sedan at the time and no reported injuries.

Shopping Centre security officers acted quickly to help fight the fire until MFS crews arrived and extinguished the blaze.

Following investigations by Northern District CIB detectives, a 35-year-old Elizabeth East man was arrested last night and charged with arson.

He was refused police bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court today, Tuesday 4 August.

Detectives wish to speak with anyone who witnessed the incident in the shopping centre car park.
