A teenage boy has been charged following an alleged pursuit from Frederickton to Coffs Harbour in the state’s north.
Shortly after 8am today (Wednesday 8 July 2026), officers from Mid North Coast Police District were patrolling the Pacific Highway, Frederickton when they saw a Kia SUV, which had been reported stolen from a Bronte address the previous day.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicle; however, when the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.

Road spikes were unsuccessfully deployed on the Pacific Highway Bonville, with the SUV continuing north towards Coffs Harbour where the pursuit was terminated a short time later due to safety concerns.
Officers from Coffs/Clarence Police District continued to patrol the Coffs Harbour area, and about 8:45am the SUV was located abandoned on Kotuku Street, Coffs Harbour.
A further search of the area was carried out and two teenage boys, aged 16 and 13, were arrested on Joyce Street, Coffs Harbour, and both were taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station.
The older boy was charged with breach of bail, police pursuit – not stop – drive at speed and drive conveyance taken without consent of owner.
He was refused bail to appear at Bail Division Court today (Wednesday 8 July 2026) where he was formally refused bail to appear at a Children’s Court on Friday 24 July 2026.
The younger boy was dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.
