Police Charge Woman Over Prison Contraband

A woman has been charged after allegedly attempting to introduce prohibited items into an Adelaide correctional facility.

On Thursday 2 July 2026, detectives from South Australia Police’s Police Corrections Team arrested a 41-year-old Woodville Gardens woman at the Adelaide Remand Centre for two counts of introducing a prohibited item into a correctional facility.

It is alleged the woman was found in possession of 10 strips of buprenorphine, 0.5 grams of methamphetamine and approximately 20 millilitres of liquid in a syringe suspected to be GHB.

She was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 21 August.

Detective Chief Inspector Naomi Oberscheidt, Officer in Charge of the Offender Management Section, said the introduction of drugs and other prohibited items into correctional facilities presents serious risks.

“The introduction of illicit drugs and other prohibited items into correctional facilities poses significant risks to the safety, security and wellbeing of prisoners, staff and visitors,” Detective Chief Inspector Oberscheidt said.

“SAPOL will continue to work closely with our partner agencies to detect and prevent contraband entering correctional facilities and hold those responsible accountable.”
