Police lay armed robbery charge at Beenleigh

A man has been charged after allegedly threatening two store attendants with a knife before tying them up and robbing a business at Beenleigh yesterday.

It will be alleged at around 4.40pm on August 31 a man entered a warehouse store on George Street and took cable ties off a shelf.

He then allegedly approached two female store attendants and produced a knife, demanding money.

The women complied and handed the man cash from the till before he ordered them into another room and bound them with cable ties.

He then allegedly forced the pair to provide him with access to a safe which he took additional cash from.

The man left the women tied up and took their mobile phones before fleeing the store.

Police were called a short time later and investigations led to the locations of a man on Snowden Street in Slacks Creek, allegedly found be in possession of the phones and money.

A 30-year-old Beenleigh man was charged with three counts of deprivation of liberty, two counts each of common assault and stealing, and one count each of armed robbery and enter premises and commit indictable offence.

He is due to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court this morning (September 1).
