Police update: Charges – Aggravated assault in Alice Springs 17 February

Northern Territory Police have charged a second person in relation to a violent incident in Alice Springs earlier this week.

This morning detectives arrested an 18-year-old woman who was alleged to have unlawfully entered a property on Bath Street and assaulted its occupants.

During the incident one of the occupants suffered burns after boiling water was allegedly thrown at her. A number of children also suffered minor injuries.

The woman was charged with:

  • 4 x Aggravated assault
  • 1 x Intend to cause serious harm
  • 1 x Unlawful entry – dwelling (aggravated)
  • 1 x Damage to property

The woman was remanded to appear in Alice Springs Local Court today.

This incident is isolated and there is not believed to be any ongoing risk to the public.

Detective Superintendent Kirsten Engels said, “Northern Territory Police investigators will not stop in the pursuit of holding people accountable for senseless acts of violence.”
