Police update: Firearm incident at Newstead

Police have charged two people following investigations into a domestic violence incident in Newstead yesterday morning, August 20.

It will be alleged shortly before 6.30am, a shot was fired through the front door of an address along Cunningham Street.

Upon police arrival, a 22-year-old woman was located inside the property and was physically uninjured.

Two men were seen leaving the scene in a blue Volkswagon, which was located at a Coorparoo address within 20 minutes.

Police attended and took two men into custody. One man allegedly spat at police officers during the arrest.

A 19-year-old Coorparoo man has been charged with one count each of acts intended to maim (domestic violence offence), dangerous conduct with a weapon (domestic violence), enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence (domestic violence), unlawful possession of firearm, authority required to possess explosives (ammunition), possess knife in a public place, possess property suspected of being proceeds of a drug offence and two counts of possess dangerous drugs.

He was denied police bail and will appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court today, August 21.

A 21-year-old Holland Park West man has been charged with acts intended to maim and possess tainted property. He was denied police bail and is expected to appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court today, August 21.
