Graham Ashton’s report into the failings of ESTA was provided to the Andrews Labor Government more than two months ago, yet the Premier and Health Minister have neglected to even read it.
Instead, Daniel Andrews refused to shoulder any responsibility for the crisis, again insisting he had only been ‘briefed’ on the report.
When pressed further, the Premier said he wouldn’t take part in ‘political games’.
While families have lost loved ones waiting on hold to triple-zero, the report that could hold the answers to fix the broken system sits on the Premier’s desk, unopened and gathering dust.
Shadow Minister for Health, Georgie Crozier, said the arrogance and abhorrent snub by the Premier has left Victorians to suffer as the state’s ambulance and triple-zero services buckle with the health crisis getting worse each day.
“To suggest this is a political game is an insult to the families of those who have lost their lives due to the Government’s years of neglect and mismanagement of the health system,” Ms Crozier said.
“It is an outright disgrace that the Premier and Health Minister haven’t bothered to read the Ashton report, while Victorians have died waiting for an ambulance.”
“The Andrews Labor Government blatantly refused to comply with a Parliamentary Order to release dozens of reviews relating to the failures in management of the emergency call system.”
“Our doctors, nurses, paramedics and triple-zero operators are under immense pressure and are in desperate need of support,” Ms Crozier said.
“The person who got us into the mess is not the one to get us out of it.”
