Premier must meet pay agreement deadline 05 July 2023

Premier and Health Minister Jeremy Rockliff must stop taking our nurses for granted and present a new pay agreement to the ANMF before July 14.

The minority Liberal Government’s negotiations with the ANMF have dragged on for months and they have known the agreement would run out on July 1.

The “good faith” the government purports to have with our nurses is slowly running out and our health workers would not seek to take industrial action unless they were at the end of their tether.

All our nurses are asking for is better workplace safety, improved management of fatigue and burnout and competitive wages, which is what you would expect of any workplace.

Our dedicated nurses are the backbone of our health system and without their hard work, our health system would completely fall apart.

This is a Premier that has lost his way and is failing Tasmanians with his lack of action.

After 10 years of the Liberal Government, little has been done to alleviate their concerns about vacancies, overtime, fatigue and burnout. There is no reason to think he will start doing anything about it now.

Looking after workers is in Labor’s DNA and a Labor Government would ensure our workers are listen to, respected and valued.
