AquaZone will offer outdoor fitness classes from June 1 while the indoor pool, gym and indoor fitness classes will be reintroduced from June 22.
Access to the classes, gym and pool will be via a booking system to ensure compliance with directions from the Victorian Government COVID-19 restrictions.
“This is great news for those who have wanted to return to a fitness regime at AquaZone,” Warrnambool City Council Chief Executive Officer Peter Schneider said.
“The AquaZone crew will be taking extra measures to ensure the venue is safe and this will include monitoring social distancing, extra cleaning and ongoing disinfection of surfaces and materials.
“We understand that there is a huge demand for the pool however Council has to engage specialists to restart the boiler and commence reheating the pools which takes time
“We are aiming to reopen the pool on June 22 when restrictions are expected to be eased again if the COVID-19 transmission rates continue to fall.”
In other positive news sports grounds can now be used for training within Department of Health and Human Services guidelines while the BMX track will also open for recreational use and club training.
The Warrnambool Library will reopen from Tuesday June 9 with reduced hours which are 10am to 5pm Monday to Friday and Saturdays from 10am to 1pm.
The Warrnambool Art Gallery will be open from June 9 with opening hours of 10am to 5pm weekdays, 11am to 3pm Saturdays and 10am to 3pm Sundays.
The WAG is offering a reserved time of 10am-11am on Saturdays for WAG members and people considered vulnerable to COVID-19 infection including the Aboriginal community and people aged over 70 years.
Conditions in place to access to Council facilities include:
• hand sanitiser must be used on entering;
• staff will need to record the names of all who enter;
• there will be some restrictions on services such as reading newspapers in the library or accessing change rooms at the pool; and,
• specific hygiene routines will be in place.
“While these conditions might seem onerous we hope that customers understand that Council officers are doing their best to resume services within Government guidelines,” Mr Schneider said.
“Service provision will continue to be reassessed as more information comes to hand.”
