SA cooking with gas

Australia’s peak oil and gas industry representative body today said the deal between the Morrison and Marshall Governments to secure South Australia’s energy supply shows the importance of gas working with renewables.

“This $1.08 billion deal shows how Natural gas is at the forefront of reducing emissions and energy security,” said APPEA Chief Executive Andrew McConville.

“Natural gas plays an important role in balancing renewable energy, ramping up and down to match supply and demand.

“Gas is affordable, reliable and good for good for the environment.”

APPEA’s South Australian Director Claire Wilkinson said gas is already playing an increasingly important role in South Australia to balance intermittent renewable electricity.

“This deal reaffirms gas role working hand in hand with renewables,” Ms Wilkinson said.
