A man has been charged after allegedly seriously assaulting a police officer in Strathpine during the early hours of Saturday morning, September 5.
Around 2am police were attending a hotel car park on Gympie Road where a stolen Honda Civic was located.
A man entered and started the vehicle, before officers opened the driver’s side door and removed the keys.
A struggle ensued where it will be alleged the man bit a senior constable on the right bicep.
The man refused to let go and was tasered as a result.
The male police officer was taken to St Andrews Hospital for treatment and a blood test.
A 28-year-old Kallangur man has been charged with three counts of serious assault of a police officer, one count each of evade police, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, authority required to possess explosives (fireworks), possession of a knife in a public place, possessing anything used in the commission of a crime along with two counts each of possessing dangerous drugs and stealing.
He is due to appear in the Pine Rivers Magistrates Court today (September 7).
