A new exhibition celebrating a variety of Greater Bendigo’s First Nations artists has been launched online and will open to visitors once COVID-19 restrictions allow.
Sharing Process at the Bendigo Visitor Centre’s Living Arts Space showcases the artists’ cultural influences and celebrates the wide variety of their works and processes.
The featured artists are Janet Bromley, Lorraine Brigdale, Robyn Davis, Samantha James, Troy Firebrace, Natasha Carter, Trina Dalton-Oogjes, Kerri Douglas and Dianne Turner.
Three workshops will accompany the exhibition and will be available through the Explore Bendigo website just in time for school holidays.
- Workshop 1 – Lorraine Brigdale – Making your own ochre and mineral paints
- Workshop 2 – Dianne Turner – Traditional coil weaving
- Workshop 3 – Janet Bromley – Weaving with recycled materials
Visitor Services Manager Jemma Docherty said the Greater Bendigo region had a thriving community of First Nations artists.
“We’re really proud to be hosting this exhibition, which is a beautiful showcase of some of our best local artists,” Ms Docherty said.
“All artworks in the exhibition will be available for purchase through the Uniquely Bendigo website. Many local artists and creatives have been heavily impacted by COVID-19 so purchasing an artwork is a wonderful way to show your support.
“The exhibition will initially be open online and will be physically open as soon as restrictions allow.
“We look forward to sharing this collection with the community.”
