Queensland’s small businesses will share in more than $2 million to start the New Year thanks to the Queensland Government’s Business Boost Grants.
Supporting small businesses is a core pillar of the Palaszczuk Government’s economic plan, and this latest round of grants are a part of the $2.5 billion dollars the government has put towards supporting business since the start of the pandemic.
Minister for Employment and Small Business Di Farmer said backing small business is vital for the state’s economic growth and these grants will enable businesses to start the year by putting plans in place that will accelerate their growth.
“Business Boost Grants of up to $15,000 help businesses improve their planning, software and growth and can be used for activities such as website development, marketing, training and coaching, advisory services and planning for business continuity and succession,” Minister Farmer said.
“A total of 169 small businesses across the state will be able to fast-track their business upgrades thanks to the $2.05 million funding round – the second for the Business Boost Grants program.
“Businesses from Mareeba to Moreton Bay and west to Winton, will be able to get to work on growing their business and not only boost their productivity but boost their business confidence – what a wonderful way to start the New Year.
“Small businesses are such a vital part of our communities – supporting jobs, families and the local economy and we want to support them, their families and their communities too.”
Vision Splendid Outback Film Festival, Winton will receive $11,124 to create a new website that includes a ticketing platform and film directory with online streaming options.
“Winton is the ‘Hollywood of the Outback’ and the region is establishing itself as a serious film location with the Film Festival growing and proving to be a wonderful tourist attraction,” Minister Farmer said.
“The festival has helped establish a new industry for Winton and is a great benefit to the local economy, so I’m thrilled this grant will help Festival organisers connect with new audiences and increased tickets sales through the strong digital platform.”
Wynnum’s 3 Elements Coffee will also receive $8,967 to update their software, including adding e-commerce capabilities to their website, and ensure staff are well-trained in the new features.
“3 Elements Coffee is a veteran-owned business and a wonderful social enterprise with a percentage of profits from every kilogram of coffee sold directly supporting Australian Veteran’s initiatives,” Minister Farmer said.
“By expanding their business to include e-commerce options, it means they’re giving more back to the community through the Veteran’s initiatives they support and meaningful job opportunities.”
The Minister said the Business Boost Grants were in addition to the Business Basics Grants and the Business Growth Fund forming part of the grants package under the Big Plans for Small Business Strategy.
