STATEMENT – Leave for Member for Nightcliff

The Memberfor Nightcliff Natasha Fyles will be taking personal leave for four weeks fromMonday 16 September 2019.

Ms Fyles,her partner and two children will be in the US where her 7-year-old son Henrywill receive further specialised treatment on anIntramedullary Spinal Cord tumor.

Henryscondition is very rare in children under the age of 10.

The familyhas previously sought medical intervention in the US where surgeons haveexpertise in the condition.

While MsFyles is grateful for the support shown to the family by friends, colleaguesand the community, she asks for privacy to allow the family to focus on Henryswellbeing and recovery.

The ChiefMinister Michael Gunner will act for Ms Fyles in her Parliamentary role asMinister for Health and Minister for Disabilities. Minister for Local Government, Housing andCommunity Development Gerry McCarthy will act as Attorney-General, Minister forJustice and Leader of Government Business. Minister for Tourism, Sport and Culture Lauren Moss will act as Ministerfor the Arafura Games.
