South Australia’s total supervised medi-hotel capacity is currently 500 pax per week.
Recent experiences of an outbreak in Thebarton as well as the situation in Victoria has required South Australia’s medi-hotel capacity to be allocated across three different cohorts.
These include:
- international arrivals (240 pax);
- domestic arrivals from high risk areas (130 pax);
- capacity for community outbreaks (130 pax).
The State Government has recently advised the Commonwealth that in the coming weeks we are seeking to increase our medi-hotel capacity to 800 pax.
This will continue to be allocated over three cohorts, and will be flexed and reassessed based on local South Australian requirements.
- International arrivals (600 pax, representing an increase of 360 pax);
- domestic arrivals from high risk areas (100 pax);
- capacity for community outbreaks (100 pax).
This increase to allow South Australia to quarantine 600 international arrivals per week more than doubles our current capacity to support the return of Australians stranded overseas.
