Information last updated at 9.37am on Wednesday 14 February.

Heavy storms in Melbourne on Tuesday 13 February have caused power outages and significant damage in areas of Monash.

We know that many properties have had disruption to power, and this is being restored gradually in the area. If you still do not have power, visit the website of your electricity provider for an estimated reconnection time.

If you would like to report storm damage related to the storms, call State Emergency Services on 132 500. Council staff are working with the SES on clean-up efforts but reporting directly to the SES is the most efficient way to ensure your report is prioritised accordingly.

Please be patient with the SES team, they are responding to an extremely high number of requests for support.

Disruptions or changes to Council services to the public include:

  • our Monash Recycling and Waste Centre is closed due to loss of power
  • our library branches are being assessed for water damage but are hoping to re-open soon
  • our Oakleigh Service centre is closed as a walk-in customer service facility due to loss of power
  • our waste pick-up services are continuing with some streets unable to be accessed by truck, we will return to these areas once able to – please leave your bins out until collected
  • Huntingdale Maternal Health Centre is closed due to tree damage
  • Mulgrave Maternal Child Health Centre is closed due to loss of power and tree damage
  • Oakleigh Golf Course suffered significant storm damage and is closed today and tomorrow while the team assesses what needs to be done
  • Brine Street Child Care Centre is closed due to storm damage. Families were notified last night (If you have any questions about your family’s kindergarten or early years service, please contact your centre directly).

There is also significant disruption across some of our local roads. If you are driving, cycling, or walking this morning, please take care and follow any directions from emergency services.

If you operate a food-based business and have been impacted by power outages, there is information on the Department of Health’s website about ensuring food safety.

There will be a delay in reaching our Customer Experience Team via phone, as our team works through a backlog of enquires. They can also be reached via email at [email protected]

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
