Summer Vax Drive in for second innings at cricket and supermarkets

  • Summer Vax Drive continues with events and opportunities for vaccination
  • Supermarkets extend their fight against COVID-19
  • Big Bash League vaccination clinic gets second innings
  • The ‘Summer Vax Drive’ campaign – a three-week targeted initiative to help Western Australia reach its 90 per cent vaccination rate – has been ramped up to provide more opportunities for people to get vaccinated.

With last week’s success of clinics in supermarkets, we have extended the initiative in the lead up to Christmas and are providing shoppers the opportunity to ‘roll up’ and protect themselves and their community.

Clinics will continue at various Woolworths and Aldi supermarkets until Sunday, December 12.

These convenient opportunities will give shoppers the advantage of getting vaccinated whilst collecting their weekly groceries.

The Summer Vax Drive Vaccination Clinic will also return for a second innings at the Men’s Big Bash League cricket match at Optus Stadium on Wednesday December 8, offering up another chance to get vaccinated.

The ‘Keeping Culture Safe and Strong: Vaccination Focus’ also continues to run across the State to drive up the vaccination rates of Aboriginal communities.

WA Health State COVID-19 vaccination clinics continue to operate with no appointment necessary at more than 100 locations across WA.

Western Australians can also get vaccinated at GPs, pharmacies, Aboriginal Medical Services and GP respiratory clinics, which are managed by the Commonwealth.

Dates and opening hours vary depending on people’s preferred location and people are urged to visit https://www.rollupforwa.com.au to find out where they can get vaccinated as soon as possible.

As stated by Health Minister Roger Cook:

“The Summer Vax Drive is a great opportunity for anyone not vaccinated to simply walk straight in and get vaccinated.

“The continued support of these venues allows us to further provide opportunities to Western Australians to get vaccinated and helps cement the great job Western Australians have done so far, but we need to keep that momentum going.

“This intensive effort to vaccinate as many people as possible is required now to ensure Western Australia is both protected and prepared for the inevitable arrival of COVID-19.

“This is all about ease and convenience. Not only can you get your vaccine at more than a hundred clinics across the State but also at your local GP, pharmacy and now – grocery store. There are no more excuses.

“I would urge anyone who has not been vaccinated to get vaccinated sooner rather than later and enjoy the summer ahead knowing you’ve protected yourself and your loved ones.”
