One down, three to go … Sunshine Coast fitness identity takes on second record breaking challenge of 2022 for Dementia Australia

Sunshine Coast endurance champion Jamie Milne continues to demonstrate the strength of his support for people living with dementia, as he prepares to undertake the second of FOUR Guinness World Record attempts in just twelve months.

The next step in Jamie’s gruelling Wairua World Record Warrior challenge will be a 24-hour pull-up challenge, due to take place on Tuesday 7 June at Jamie Milne Training in Warana.

This latest attempt comes off the back of January’s eight-hour burpees challenge, during which Jamie completed an incredible 3,432 burpees, raising almost $8,000 so far!

And beyond this second challenge, Jamie’s efforts are set to continue throughout the year, with:

  • a 100km ultra marathon with 20kg backpack on Saturday 15 October, at the Blackall 100 Event Trail
  • an eight-hour double-unders challenge on Friday 16 December, at Jamie Milne Training in Warana

Jamie, who has long been committed to raising funds and awareness for Dementia Australia, said his fundraising efforts are a tribute to his beloved grandmother Mary, who he lost to younger onset dementia.

“For all the goodness in my personality and character, my values, principles and love, I credit my grandparents, especially my Nanny Mary, and I am so proud to be undertaking this challenge in her memory,” Jamie said.

“I am also driven by my great respect for the work of Dementia Australia. The Wairua World Record Warrior challenge is my way of helping ensure others impacted by this disease have access to the vital support services and care the organisation provides.”

This challenge is the latest example of Jamie’s long-standing association with Dementia Australia. He regularly supports the organisation’s Memory Walk & Jog fundraising events, and his 2021 attempt to break the record for completing the highest number of Murph Hero Workouts in 24 hours raised an incredible $14,000.

Dementia Australia CEO Maree McCabe AM said Jamie’s determination to make a difference is inspirational.

“We are so impressed by Jamie’s boundless energy, and his continued efforts in support of Dementia Australia,” Ms McCabe said.

“We are incredibly grateful for everything he continues to do. His work will make a lasting difference to the lives of Australians impacted by dementia, through funding important support services, as well as vital research.

“Best of luck Jamie with this latest challenge and thank you on behalf of everyone at Dementia Australia.”
