Anglers in Swan Hill and surrounds are invited to the latest OzFish Unlimited Fish Talk night, on Wednesday 8 May at One28 Doors, with catering provided and lucky door prizes up for grabs.
The fishing conservation charity is delivering a series of free community events alongside the Victorian Fisheries Authority. This event, which aims to raise awareness about restoration and sustainability of our waterways, will be the third, held as part of the Native Fish Habitat Roadshow, set to travel through northern Victoria.
The speakers will discuss the challenges facing our rivers, recent success stories, and opportunities for individuals to contribute to restoration initiatives.
Braeden Lampard, OzFish Murray-Darling Basin Program Manager, acknowledges that these events are often the starting point to kickstart aquatic restoration from those who see the issues first-hand.
“Anglers are key players in addressing fish habitat challenges and can significantly contribute to the solutions when they know what is going on,” said Braeden.
“These events are crafted for the community, featuring discussions on what’s affecting native fish in the area, as well as fishing experts sharing their tips and fishing tales.
“On the night, we’ll update local anglers on how they can get involved and help improve the health of their local waterways, which is greatly needed following the devastation caused by the flooding in recent years,” said Braeden.
