Third man charged over Dubbo shooting, NSW

A third man has been charged by Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives over his alleged involvement in the shooting of another man in the state’s Central West last month.

Just before 11pm on Tuesday 23 November 2021, emergency services were called to a house on Baird Street, Dubbo, following a concern for welfare report.

A 34-year-old man was found inside the home with a gunshot wound to his leg, wound to his face and lacerations to his arms.

Police were told two unknown people wearing face coverings, entered the home and assaulted the man before fleeing the scene.

The man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being taken to Dubbo Base Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Officers from Orana-Mid Western Police District, with the assistance of detectives attached to the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad, commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following inquiries, a 26-year-old man was arrested by detectives at Emerton in Sydney’s west on Wednesday 24 November 2021 and a 31-year-old man was arrested at Wilmot on Friday 26 November 2021. They both remain before the courts.

About 10.30am today (Friday 3 December 2021), detectives from the Robbery and Serious Crime Squad, assisted by Raptor Squad Highway Patrol officers, arrested a 48-year-old man on North Parade at Rooty Hill.

He was taken to Mt Druitt Police Station and charged with specially aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence, discharge firearm or other loaded arms with intend to cause grievous bodily harm, wound person with intent to do grievous bodily harm, and participate in criminal group.

The man was refused bail and is expected to appear in Parramatta Local Court tomorrow (Saturday 4 December 2021).
