Tree down at Wollongong Art Gallery

The large gum tree at the front entrance of Wollongong Art Gallery has blown down in the strong winds today, Saturday 11 April 2020.

Council crews are on site to remove the tree that’s in a dangerous position. It appears there is significant structural damage to the tree, which means it’s unable to be saved.

The crews will also investigate whether there is any damage to the Gallery building, and to make the area safe. At this stage, it’s believed there may be a small amount of damage to the fourth floor balcony railing
