Northern Grampians Shire currently has two active cases of Coronavirus, one of which was reported within the past 24 hours. Several big jumps in Coronavirus cases this week across the state has caused the State Government to enforce further restrictions state-wide.
Northern Grampians Shire residents need to be aware of a new change concerning the wearing of masks when not at home.
In line with current State restrictions from 11:59pm on Sunday 2 August, face masks or coverings will need to be worn by all residents of Northern Grampians when they leave home, unless they have a condition considered to be a lawful exception.
Shire residents should be warned that people who do not wear face masks or coverings and do not have a lawful excuse can be fined $200.
Community members who are exempt from mask wearing include children under 12 years of age, individuals with breathing difficulties, and people who have a physical condition that makes wearing a mask difficult.
Mask wearing is one of several ways to stay safe from coronavirus. Other recommendations are washing hands regularly, coughing and sneezing into your elbow, keeping at least 1.5 metres from others and staying home if unwell.
