Two dead, one critical after crash at Walcha, NSW

Two people have died and a third is in a critical condition following a crash in Walcha today.

About 12.20pm (Wednesday 8 June 2022), emergency services were called to the Oxley Highway at Ruby Hills Road, following reports a Suzuki hatchback and Rigid truck had collided.

The driver – a 22-year-old woman – and a rear passenger – a 16-year-old girl– of the hatchback died at the scene.

The front passenger – a 23-year-old man – was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition.

An 8-month-old girl – also in the rear of the car – was uninjured. She was taken to John Hunter Hospital for assessment.

The truck driver was not injured and was taken to Walcha Hospital for mandatory testing.

A crime scene has been established which will be examined by the Crash Investigation Unit.

Road closures are in place along the Oxley Highway between Walcha Road to Walcha Saleyards. Motorists are urged to avoid the area.
