Two officers injured after head-on crash in East Ryde

Two police officers have been injured after a head-on crash in East Ryde.

Shortly before midnight (Friday 14 June 2019), officers attached to Ryde Police Area Command were patrolling on Lane Cove Road, Ryde, and attempted to stop a black Holden Commodore.

The Holden Commodore failed to stop, and a police pursuit was initiated.

A short time later, the Holden Commodore has collided head-on with a police vehicle on Pittwater Road, East Ryde.

The occupants – a sergeant and senior constable – were taken to Royal North Shore Hospital for treatment.

The driver, a 33-year-old sergeant – suffered a hand injury.

The front passenger – a 29-year-old senior constable – suffered chest and back pain.

Both officers are expected to make a full recovery.

The driver and passenger of the Holden Commodore, both men aged in their 20s, were uninjured.

Inquiries are continuing to locate driver of the Holden Commodore as he fled the scene on foot into nearby bushland.

A crime scene has been established while officers from Ryde Police Area Command conduct a full investigation.

No arrests have been made.
