VIPER Taskforce drug arrests – Taylors Hill

VIPER Taskforce yesterday arrested two people for drug related offending during a routine patrol of the north-western suburbs.

The unit had been patrolling Taylors Hill when they observed suspect activity in a carpark.

Members conducted a search of the vehicles under the Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances Act and located drugs (cocaine and cannabis), a quantity of cash and drug related paraphernalia.

A 23-year-old Taylors Hill man was charged with possess drugs of dependence (cocaine and cannabis), traffick drugs of dependence (cocaine and cannabis) and deal property suspected proceeds of crime.

He was bailed to face Sunshine Magistrates’ Court on 21 December.

A 19-year-old Hillside man was issued with a caution for drug related offending.

The VIPER Taskforce is a tactical and investigative unit based within Crime Command focused on preventing, detecting, deterring, disrupting and dismantling the criminal activities of groups such as outlaw motorcycle gangs, organised crime networks and street gangs.

The taskforce, which commenced in July 2022, supports the work of specialist investigation units and regional police by providing further resources to assist with investigation tactics and enforcement actions.

VIPER is an acronym for visibility, intelligence, prevention, enforcement and reassurance.
