Working together on innovative healthcare models for our regions

Guy Barnett, Minister for Health

Supporting our rural and regional communities is a priority for the Rockliff Liberal Government, especially in providing access to quality healthcare.

Tasmania’s rural communities are the lifeblood of our regions, and supporting their health and wellbeing is essential.

Minister for Health, Guy Barnett, attended the Central Highlands Working Group meeting and Health Consumers Tasmania roundtable meeting in Ouse on Wednesday to hear firsthand from the community and providers.

“Improving healthcare in our rural and regional communities is a priority and that’s why I am focussed on delivering innovative models of care for Tasmanians,” Minister Barnett said.

“It was fantastic to see so many passionate providers and consumers come together at Ouse to talk about better healthcare for their communities.

“Our Government is listening, learning and taking action to support our rural and regional communities.”

Primary healthcare also plays a critical role in the health and wellbeing of Tasmanians.

Minister Barnett said he continues to have conversations with the Federal Government about what more it needs to do to improve access to general practitioners for Tasmanians.

“The Rockliff Liberal Government is doing what matters for all Tasmanians by delivering the healthcare system Tasmanians deserve,” Minister Barnett said.
