2023 Study NT International Student Awards

The awards recognise and celebrate international students’ and alumni’s accomplishments and contributions to the Territory and serve as a testament to the strong support and advocacy from local businesses who employ students and graduates.

Daisy Twayana, from Nepal was crowned as the 2023 International Student of the Year for her work creating the Social Work Inclusive Student Society, a project committed to advocating for and enhancing student experience. Daisy also leads a podcast project “Being International”, providing a platform for international students to share their experiences with cultural shock, mental health, employment and the unique challenges for social work students.

The 2023 International Student Award recipients are:

o Study NT International Student of the Year – Daisy Twayana

o Study NT International Student Volunteer of the Year – Ruobin Zhang

o Study NT International Alumni of the Year – Rifat Mahmud

o Study NT International Student Employer of the Year – Antonio’s Kitchen

The number of international students studying in the Northern Territory recently surpassed a record 4,900 and Study NT is working to attract more students to study here next year.
