Appeal after service station robbery in Barrier

Police are appealing for public assistance following a break and enter at a service station in the state’s south-west today.

About 3.45am (Tuesday 16 November 2021), two unknown people wearing face coverings smashed the front glass door of the service station at the intersection of Adams and Sandwych streets Wentworth, about 30km west of Mildura.

They allegedly stole a cabinet containing cigarettes from inside before leaving the scene in a maroon Mazda utility, suspected to be stolen.

Police have been told the pair stopped a short distance away on Sandwych Street after the cabinet fell from the utility. They were approached by members of the public before driving away, leaving the cabinet.

Officers attached to Barrier Police District attended and established a crime scene at the service station.

About 4.30am, the Mazda was located by Victorian police in Mildura and has been seized for forensic examination.

As investigations continue, police are appealing for anyone with information or dashcam vision from the area to contact police.
