Arts Grants To Boost WA’s Creative Landscape

  • More than $800,000 awarded to artists and creative professionals
  • Selected projects include exhibitions, community engagement, and album production
  • The 24 successful applicants will contribute to vibrant cultural experiences in WA

A diverse range of projects designed to boost Western Australia’s cultural landscape and support the creative ambitions of our artists are being supported by the Cook Government.

A total of 24 successful applicants have been awarded $815,117 in the latest round of grants from the Arts Projects for Individuals and Groups 2023-2024 program.

The grants, which are awarded in three rounds each financial year, aim to encourage creativity, support artistic development, and engage communities through diverse artistic expressions.

These grants reflect the program’s commitment to supporting a diverse range of artistic projects and contributing to Western Australia’s cultural vitality. The successful applicants were chosen based on the quality of their proposals, their potential impact, and their alignment with the program’s objectives.

  • Andrew Quilty, ‘The Outside In Between’ Collaborative exhibition ($29,125);

  • Melissa Cameron, ‘Banner and Badge’ Exhibition ($21,670);
  • Women of Music Production Perth Writers camp 2024 ($42,867);
  • Joshua Mason, Oshua Debut album ($29,150);
  • Matthew Bracknell, Echo Omen EP and promotional documentation for ‘Seed Song’ ($7,804);

  • Jacob Webb, Methyl Ethel Fifth album ‘A Hand in a Hand in a Hand’ ($79,290);
  • J.W Annear, C.H Levy and J.M Seah, Airline Food ‘The Deal’ album national tour ($17,780);
  • GA King and M Storen, Development of ‘Close’ A verbatim performance work ($37,462);
  • Kathryn Osborne, Creative development for ‘Pygmalion’ Play adaptation ($53,395);
  • Theona Councillor, Development of ‘Murla-na Bula Wula Bulangul’ A Thoonbijee opera ($33,498);
  • Dawn Pascoe, Stations Regional circus tour ($46,355);
  • Holden Sheppard, ‘Dead Straight’ (Invisible Boys sequel novel) ($73,470); and
  • Aska, Artwork for new graphic novel ‘The First Law of Uncertain Friendships’ ($17,000).
