Australia Can’t Offset Its Way Out Of Browse Gas Bomb

Instead of approving massive climate bombs like the Browse gas project and pretending the damage can be offset, the Albanese government should simply stop approving new coal and gas in the first place, the Australian Conservation Foundation said.

“You can’t offset your way out of the Browse climate bomb,” said ACF Chief Executive Adam Bandt.

“If Woodside’s Browse gas project goes ahead, it would release around 1.6 billion tonnes of climate-heating emissions – nearly four times Australia’s annual emissions.

“The answer is not more offsets, it’s no new coal and gas.
