After an incredibly challenging start to the year, with our environment facing bushfires, floods and prolonged drought, Saving our Species (SoS) has taken a closer look at how some of our bush is regenerating, against all the odds.
As our threatened species officers go into the field to assess the severity and impact of the bushfires on threatened species sites, habitats, plants and animals, they’re capturing some incredible images.
Photos taken in the far south coast, Blue Mountains, north coast and north east NSW provide a fascinating glimpse into how our environment responds to and recovers from natural disasters.
As SoS continues to carry out conservation work to help our ecosystems replenish and regenerate, along with re-planting, weed control and protecting unburnt habitats, these images show there is some light at the end of the tunnel for our most vulnerable plants and animals.
Nearly 1000 native plants and animals are currently facing extinction in NSW. But it’s not too late to do something and make a difference.
