“An inspiring, thriving, healthy and prosperous community of choice” – that’s the focus of four key strategic documents that were adopted by Central Goldfields Shire Council last week (26/10).

The following documents will shape the future of the Central Goldfields over the next four years and beyond:

The Community Vision, Council Plan, Municipal Health and Wellbeing Plan and Long-Term Financial Plan will enable continued progress in creating a community that is engaged, flourishing, lively and inclusive.

Central Goldfields Shire Mayor Cr Chris Meddows-Taylor said our community has set an inspiring and exciting vision for our future and Council has a clear and focused pathway to work towards this.

“We have a brilliant future and it has been so rewarding to see months of community engagement clearly define this in such an inspiring way and assist Council to set the plans to achieve this.”

“Thank you to those in our community who provided input into the development of these documents over recent months.

“Special thanks to the Shaping Central Goldfields Community Advisory Group who not only represented voices from all facets of our community, but invested a significant amount of time, energy and knowledge into helping us with this process.”

Community Advisory Group member Charlotte Dowell said she had found a “real sense of community and family” through the group which helped shape the community’s future.

“Through hard work and deliberation, the Community Advisory Group has helped to inform the Central Goldfields Shire Council Plan and shape a ten-year Community Vision which represents the community’s needs and values.”

Under the Local Government Act 2020, all councils across Victoria are required to prepare a ten-year Community Vision, Council Plan, Municipal Health and Wellbeing and Long-Term Financial Plan documents.

An outline of each of the documents is as follows:

Community Vision

The Community Vision is a document which frames the community’s long-term aspirations and will shape Council’s work over the next ten years.

Council Plan

The Council Plan guides decision making and resource allocation and helps Council and the community achieve the long-term aspirations and priorities outlined in the Community Vision.

Long-Term Financial Plan

The Long-Term Financial Plan sets out how the actions of the Council Plan will be funded to achieve the Community Vision.

Municipal Health and Wellbeing Plan

The Municipal Health and Wellbeing Plan provides Council and its partners with a strategic framework to plan, co-ordinate and deliver services and initiatives to improve local public health and wellbeing.
