A former NSW government employee will appear in court today charged after allegedly defrauding an organisation of more than $20,000 by submitting fraudulent university documents for payment.
In 2018, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Financial Crimes Squad established Strike Force Lallat to investigate reports of fraudulent activity by a former employee of an NSW government organisation.
Following extensive inquiries, detectives arrested a 38-year-old man at Goulburn Police Station on Tuesday 12 May 2020.
He was charged with two counts of dishonestly obtain financial advantage etc by deception.
Police will allege in court that the man claimed he had completed a university course, relevant to his position, during his employment.
It will be further alleged the man submitted fraudulent university invoices and documents to the value of more than $20,000 for payment by his employer.
The man was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Queanbeyan Local Court today (Monday 6 July 2020).
