2026 betr Darwin Triple Crown will make history with an innovative broadcasting arrangement.
This is the first time the technology will be used in Supercars history, elevating the Territory’s profile across the country and around the world.
The Finocchiaro CLP Government will continue to position the Territory as the best place for sport, motor-sports, and major events.
As a convoy of trucks and travellers roll into the Top End this week for the Darwin Supercars, the Territory is set to make motor-sports history once again.
For the first time ever, the 2026 betr Darwin Triple Crown will be remotely broadcasting with a real-time, live feed thrusting the Territory onto the big screen across the country and around the world.
Whether it’s the TV screen or your own personal device, you’ll be able to catch the action in high speed and high definition.
Almost all the Supercars’ fourteen events will be remotely connected, with Darwin being the first, setting a new benchmark for motor-sports broadcasting in the country. That includes the Repco Supercars Championship in Darwin, which celebrates 28 years.
Minister for Tourism and Hospitality and Minister for Major Events, Marie-Clare Boothby said that it was the latest in a long line of reasons why the Territory is the best place for major events.
“We all know that the Territory is the best place for motor-sports and major events, and once again, the world will see it in high definition as the Darwin Supercars is broadcast onto screens all over the place,” Minister Boothby said.
“This year is already the biggest Supercars program yet, with five days of family fun and fierce competition, including monster trucks. Now, we’re making history with a groundbreaking broadcast arrangement – one which sets the standard for the rest of the country.”
Minister for People, Sport and Culture, Jinson Charls, said that the Finocchiaro CLP Government was investing in enabling infrastructure across the Territory for sport and major events, including motor-sports.
“The Northern Territory Government continues to invest in existing infrastructure to ensure that we’re able to host the best national and international events.”
“This particular upgrade is significant and embeds Hidden Valley as a premium motor-sport venue, and among the best in the country.”
Head of Broadcast at the Supercars, Nathan Prendergast said that this was a game-changer.
“This is a seismic technological change for the telecast that brings enhanced efficiencies in the way we present Supercars for our fans. Supercars’ broadcast program has undergone a complete transformation heading into the 2026 season featuring a new production partnership with NEP, a revamped commentary line-up, and all-new hardware and graphics.”
“This transition to remote production is the next step in evolving our broadcast with world-leading technology at NEP’s Andrews Hub and connectivity to Hidden Valley enabling Supercars to continue providing viewers with a first-class television product.”
Permanent infrastructure upgrades at Hidden Valley now enable dual 10GB fibre paths installed by Telstra in Darwin to connect directly to NEP’s Andrews Hub in Sydney, with 140 video feeds and 120 audio feeds enabling near real time broadcast capabilities.
President of NEP, Soames Treffry, welcomed the opportunity to make broadcasting history.
“NEP is really delighted to enable this Australian broadcasting first with a fully remote production workflow occurring from Darwin for the first time. It validates the investment by both NEP and Supercars in connectivity and a solution in 4K UHD HDR for the benefit of broadcasters and to fans, here and around the world.”
The 2026 Darwin Supercars program is the biggest yet, with a jam-packed week of activities including:
Repco Supercars Championship racing over the three days for the first time; The debut of the Dunlop Super2 Series in Darwin;Monster trucks after Friday’s first Supercars race on the MXGP track;Summernats Goes Top End on following Saturday’s racing night; The Indigenous Round showcasing local culture and talent on Supercars liveries;Aerial stunt and motocross performances, drift cars, burnouts and power-skids; andA dedicated zone for kids, with access to a Pit Paddock – and FREE entry for children under 12.
Minister Boothby said that it proved the Territory was unrivalled in its position as the best place for sport, motor-sports, and major events.
“In our year of growth, certainty, and security, we are backing in the Supercars and Territory motor-sports as we restore all that makes the Territory’s lifestyle truly one-of-a-kind.”
