Construction work in Victoria continues to grow under the Andrews Labor Government – meaning more great news for the state’s economy and for jobs.

Australian Bureau of Statistics data released shows that the amount of construction work done in Victoria in the September quarter grew by $472.5 million – the largest increase in the nation.

By contrast, the national value of construction work completed decreased by $195.5 million over the same period.

The value of engineering construction work in Victoria grew by $339.9 million in the September quarter – again the strongest performance in the nation.

Under the Labor Government, more than $107 billion worth of state capital projects have commenced or are underway in Victoria.

Residential construction in Victoria grew by $96.8 million in the quarter – the highest growth in the nation with all other states and territories recording negative results.

Since the Labor Government was first elected in November 2014, construction work in Victoria has grown significantly, up 43.5 percent – the equivalent of a $4.2 billion increase.

That’s the strongest growth of anywhere in the nation during the five-year period.
