NSW coronavirus stats as at 11 March

As at 1pm today, an additional4 cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed since our last update at 8pm, March 10,bringing the total number of confirmed cases in NSW to 65.

These figures refer to peoplewho are in NSW and have been investigated for or have been diagnosed with novelcoronavirus (COVID -19).

The new cases include:

  • Three women intheir 20s and 30s who have recently returned from Italy together.
  • One case, of aman in his 70s, who is a contact of a resident from Dorothy Henderson LodgeAged Care Facility.

COVID-19/Flu clinics are beingestablished within all Local Health Districts across NSW to assess and diagnosepatients with possible COVID-19 infections and other respiratory illness suchas influenza as we approach the winter season.

NSW Health is also expandingthe laboratory capacity across public hospitals and private laboratories toscale up the analytical testing to determine the results of those tests.

Currently, NSW Healthlaboratories have capacity to perform more than 1,000 tests a day at threepublic hospitals at Randwick, Westmead, and Liverpool, and they will soon bejoined by four more hospitals: Royal North Shore, Royal Prince Alfred, John Hunter,and Nepean.

NSW Health has engaged privatepathology laboratories to assist in the collection of samples from people whorequire COVID-19 testing.

NSW Health is continuing tofind and respond to cases as they are diagnosed to slow any spread of COVID-19in the community.
