A man has been charged and his licence suspended following a crash in the state’s north this week that left a woman in a critical condition.
About 10pm on Tuesday (18 February 2020), a black Ford Territory, being driven by a 40-year-old man and carrying a 35-year-old female passenger, was heading north on the New England Highway.
A BMW was heading south on the same stretch of road when the two cars collided.
The female passenger of the Territory suffered two broken legs, a fractured wrist and internal bleeding. She was taken to Armidale Hospital in a critical condition before being flown to John Hunter Hospital for further treatment.
The Northern Tablelands Crash Investigation Unit commenced inquiries and today (Friday 21 February 2020) the driver of the Territory was arrested at Armidale Police Station.
He was charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily. The man’s licence was also suspended.
He was granted conditional bail to appear at Armidale Local Court on Monday 6 April 2020.
