Palaszczuk Government driving job opportunities across Queensland

The Palaszczuk Government’s record Queensland Corrective Services budget is driving job opportunities right across the state.

Queensland Corrective Services needs to recruit hundreds of new officers this financial year to meet the demands of the expanding Corrections network.

The recruitment drive is underway, offering Queenslanders the opportunity to secure a permanent, secure and rewarding job.

The Minister for Police and Minister for Corrective Services, Mark Ryan, said he urged Queenslanders to seriously consider a career with Queensland Corrective Services.

“These are exciting times for Queensland Corrective Services.

“It’s less than two years since Corrective Services became a government department in its own right.

“The Palaszczuk Government is delivering the funding to support Corrective Services’ standing as a modern, professional, front-line public safety agency.

“We’ve delivered a record Corrective Services budget.

“And that means more jobs, many, many more jobs.

“I’m pleased to report that Queenslanders are responding.

“We launched the recruitment drive at Queensland’s biggest event, the Ekka.

“The QCS stand, was staffed by a wide range of officers from Custodial Correctional Officers, Community Corrections Officers, QCS Dog Squad, Trade Instructors, Sentence Management Officers, Program Delivery Officers, Victims Register Officers and HR Officers.

“During the Ekka, 64,500 people visited the government precinct.

“Over the 10 days there were hundreds of inquires about working for QCS from members of the public.

“Corrections staff received an average of 30 serious enquiries each day.

“Around 350 recruitment brochures were distributed as well as more than 350 “Inside Out” magazines, which give an insight into the work that QCS does all over Queensland.

“Around 10,000 pieces of branded collateral were also distributed as members of the public approached the stand.

“I say to Queenslanders, if you want a secure, permanent job in a front-line public safety agency like Corrective Services, then we want you,” the Minister said.
