Police charge three after thefts at Albury

Two men and a woman have been charged over number of theft offences in Albury.

Since June this year, NSW Police Force and Victoria Police identified the two men in their 20s as suspects for number of theft offences.

Officers from Murray River Police District, Southern Region Enforcement Squad (RES) launched an investigation into incidents.

Just after 2.30pm yesterday (Monday 17 July 2023), officers arrested three people – a 23-year-old man, a 21-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman– at an ongoing crime scene on Kiewa Street, Albury.

They were allegedly attempting to break and enter into a unit at the address.

They were taken to Albury Police Station where they were charged with number of offences.

The 23-year-old man was charged with following offences:

  • Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period
  • Drive conveyance taken without consent of owner
  • Dishonestly obtain property by deception
  • Receive etc property stolen outside NSW
  • Steal dog
  • Shoplifting value more than $5,000 and less than or equal to $15,000
  • Dishonestly obtain property by deception
  • Smoke in smoke-free area
  • Destroy/damage property in company less than or equal to $2,000
  • Enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse
  • Fail to give information leading to driver’s identification

The man was also charged with three outstanding arrest warrants.

He was refused bail to appear at Albury Local Court on Tuesday (18 July 2023).

The 21-year-old man was charged with following offences:

  • Steal dog
  • Shoplifting value more than $5,000 and less than or equal to $15,000
  • Dishonestly obtain property by deception
  • Smoke in smoke-free area
  • Destroy/damage property in company less than or equal to $2,000
  • Enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse
  • Fail to give information leading to driver’s identification
  • Never licensed person drive vehicle on road
  • Drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous
  • Use class A vehicle with unauthorised number plate affixed

He was refused bail to appear at the same court on Tuesday (18 July 2023).

The 20-year-old woman was charged with following offences:

  • Enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse
  • Fail to supply details of driver – natural person
  • Destroy/damage property in company less than or equal to $2,000
  • Two counts of supply prohibited drug more than small and less than or equal to indictable quantity
  • Two counts of possess prohibited drug

She was also charged with one outstanding arrest warrant.

She was refused bail to appear at the same court as two men on Tuesday (18 July 2023).
