Police investigate sexual assault and theft in Melbourne CBD

Melbourne Sexual Offence and Child Abuse Team detectives are investigating a sexual assault and theft that occurred in a residence in Melbourne last year.

Investigators have been told a 40-year-old man was in his Collins Street residence in the early hours of 27 June when he was sexually assaulted by a man thought to be in his 30’s.

After the assault, the man went into the victim’s bedroom to steal five watches before fleeing on foot.

Police have released images and CCTV of a man they believe may be able to assist them with their enquiries.

He is perceived as being Mediterranean or European in appearance, approximately 175cm tall, of solid build and with curly black hair.

The male was wearing a black waterproof jacket, black jumper, black pants, black sneakers, a black baseball cap and carried a backpack.

Anyone who recognises the man or with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.auExternal Link
