Police are investigating a single vehicle crash at Lockhart River yesterday afternoon which has left a teenage boy in a critical condition and five other children with injuries.

The alleged driver of the vehicle, a 14-year-old Mount Sheridan boy, sustained serious head injuries as a result of the crash and was airlifted to Townsville Hospital.

Two male passengers aged 13 and 14 were transported to Cairns Hospital with minor injuries.

Two 16-year-old female passengers and another 14-year-old boy were not seriously injured and received treatment in Lockhart River.
