Work to transform the western end of Norris Bank Reserve in Bundoora into a social hub for the region’s youth is set to commence after the Easter break.
The third stage of the City of Whittlesea’s major redevelopment of the reserve off McLeans Road will focus on improving the facility’s appeal to younger residents.
It will see the creation of a performance space, social space with Wi-Fi access, multi-use basketball court and grass embankment in the reserve.
Rounding out the suite of works will be the installation of LED lighting along upgraded paths to improve access to the reserve and public transport.
The works will start in mid-April and are expected to continue until October.
A temporary fence will be erected around the construction site and signs will direct visitors to alternative pedestrian pathways.
Previous stages of the Norris Bank Reserve redevelopment provided for a dedicated off-leash dog area and a playground featuring a play tower with slides, water play area and upgraded picnic facilities.
The project is made possible through a $600,000 contribution from the State Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund.
