Shoalhaven City Council has adopted the draft Shoalhaven Citywide Coastal Management Program (CMP) Scoping Study for public exhibition until 14 February 2020.
What is a Scoping Study?
A scoping study is Stage 1 of the process in preparing a CMP. The purpose is to:
· Identify local priority management issues;
· Review the performance of existing management;
· Identify information gaps; and
· Identify how consultation and engagement should take place during the preparation of a CMP.
Mayor Amanda Findley noted how invaluable it is for community contributions in developing the draft Scoping Study and hopes the community continue to get involved in the process.
“It is important that the community have an opportunity to comment on the draft Scoping Study report as written by the independent consultant, so that it accurately captures what they value and how they would like our coast and estuaries managed both now and into the future.” Clr Findley said.
Guided by the NSW Coastal Management Manual, Stage One of the CMP process involves producing a citywide Scoping Study Report.
Copies of the draft Shoalhaven Citywide Coastal Management Program (CMP) Scoping Study report are available on Council’s ‘Get Involved’ webpage; and hard copies on display at the Nowra, Sanctuary Point, Milton and Ulladulla libraries; the Bay & Basin and Ulladulla Leisure Centres and Council administration buildings.

Council now invites the community to get involved in finalising the draft Scoping Study, by completing an online submission at https://getinvolved.shoalhaven.nsw.gov.au/CMPStage1ScopingStudy
