In line with other TAFEs nationally, TasTAFE will transition to online learning as much as possible and increase flexibility with fees to continue delivering vocational education and training to students.
The increase in online learning opportunities will be combined with very small groups of students timetabled for practical applied learning and assessment activities, where classes can be delivered with appropriate social distancing.
For students who do not have access to digital environments, TasTAFE computers can be booked to allow students to continue their studies.
To support students during this difficult time, TasTAFE is also increasing flexibility towards fees, and implementing a range of updates to course payments to ensure students can continue to study throughout the Coronavirus period.
Measures include waiving the requirements for up-front deposits and extending payment terms to assist students financially in continuing their studies, and allow them to access ongoing education and training in a safe and supported learning environment.
TasTAFE’s Student Support team continues to be available to provide assistance, advice and counselling services to students who are worried about their training, and are offering telephone and Skype appointments to help maintain social distancing.
It is important that we encourage as many students as possible to continue to develop their skills and move closer towards a qualification that will enable them to contribute to Tasmania’s future skilled workforce.
TasTAFE will observe the required Easter break as usual, from 10 to 19 April, with classes beginning on Monday 20 April 2020.
